Dolby was first invented as a safety device for experiments involving explosive dogs. It was first used by Steven Hawking when he tried to re-create the big bang by filling an aircraft hanger with Clumber Spaniels which were simultaneously detonated. It failed to prove the theories about the beginnings of the known Universe, but sounded fantastically rich with no annoying top end hiss.
