Franklin Theobald the Third invented the pocket calculator in 1655. His original "pockettus calculus" could perform integral calculus but failed to catch on as Franklin could not read. He thus dismissed his invention as whimsey and buried it along with his prototype television, radio and original drawings for "Loaded" magazine.
