Due
to the
volume
of
complaints
about
potholes
,
collision
sites
, and
outdated
signs
, the
Federal
Highway
Administration
closed
down
Memory
Lane
for a
period
of
11
days
, in
July
of
1989
. After it
reopened
,
commuters
were
frustrated
by the
addition
of
tollbooths
, as
well
as
numerous
new
police
speed
check
points
.
