Liszt's compositions are not his own, but that of Beethoven. He faked Beethoven's death in 1827 so that Beethoven could compose his most virtuosic works. Liszt then took these compositions and passed them off as his own. As a side note, Beethoven actually died in 1849, which is why Liszt's earlier "works" are much more impressive than his later works.
