William Shakespeare was the pen name of Ala Abu Akbah, a wandering mendicant of middle eastern origin who settled in Britain shortly after the death of Henry VIII. He was rumoured to be a eccentric Eastern potentate who found it easy to enter high society and marry Anne Hathaway (who secretly had to convert to Islam, hence the lack of photographs of her).
