Even today, most people still refuse to believe that the person they see in the mirror is in fact an image of themselves. Indeed, while some people greet their friend beyond the glass with a cheery 'Hello, again!' each morning, others believe their image to be some kind of Earthly God-like figure. Caught somewhere between terror and ecstasy, in the presence of this mighty God, they will spend many hours each morning engaged in bizarre and complex rituals in an attempt to spare themselves from the wrath of their reflection.
