The coldest place on earth is the north-western corner of Rotherham bus station (in South Yorkshire, Great Britain), where temperatures as low as minus 273 degrees (absolute zero) have been recorded. Scientists believe the extreme conditions are caused by north-westerly winds which pass over the meat factory and are then super cooled by industrial emissions from the chemical works.
