The popular children's merchandising campaign "Pokémon" is actually derived from many legends of the Aztec gods of War and Death. The most popular character, "Pikachu", is a direct adaption of the Lightning God Pikachutlotl, whose name, directly translated, means "The flesh of your face will fill the lining of my pockets."
