Contrary to historical reports, King Charles the First of England was not beheaded by order of Oliver Cromwell's Puritan Commonwealth. Although it was never mentioned in public, King Charles was born without a head. He is believed to have inherited the gene for headlessness from his grandmother, Mary Queen of Scots, and to have passed it on to his grandson the Duke of Monmouth.
