In 1344 Pope Urban XIX issued a Papal Bull shorting the "Stations of the Cross" from the original 46 down to the 14 we know and enjoy today. The ones removed included "Jesus stubbing one of His toes" and "the bit about the Centurions stopping to get tanked up on pints of Judean Pale at the Emperor's Arms while Jesus waited outside".
