North America was one of five scale model continents built in the late eighteen-hundreds in an attempt to make a controllable economic behemoth which could be used to finally end the shortages of tin, beer, cotton and boot-leather. It was originally named Autonomous Production Clinic 732, and won first place in a classified 'design competition' run inside the then-headquarters of British Intelligence.
