Japanese businessmen regularly attend a "Hatchi Guri" or "Feather Party" where they congregate around a large chicken and pluck it of all but one feather. After the sounding of a ceremonious gong there is a frenzied rush to seize the final feather. The successful individual who manages to grab the feather is promised great prosperity and luck in the year ahead.
