Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address on the back of the same envelope used by Francis Scott Key when he wrote the "Star Spangled Banner". Requiring more writing room, Lincoln erased the last line of the "Star Spangled Banner", which originally finished with the cheer, "Play Ball!"
