adjustus
hexagonus
'. This
fascinating
creature
occupied
a
unique
ecological
niche
- its
staple
diet
was a
marine
plant
whose
hexagonal
fruit
were
screw
-
threaded
onto
the
main
stem
.
Adjustus
died
out by
failing
to
adapt
when a
random
mutation
changed
the
handedness
of the
thread
.
