The term Injury Time was so called because in the 1890's any player injured during an Association Football match had to stay where they fell until the end of the match. The famous match between Milton Keynes Wanderers and the Royal Navy in 1897 had to be abandoned when all 22 players became injured, and lay down for over six hours.
