Hilary Mantell's book "Wolf Hall" was originally titled "Chihuahua Lodge". The change was made at the insistence of the publishers in order to broaden appeal, despite Thomas Cromwell's well known penchant for small dogs that could easily be carried and concealed under a sleeveless fur cape.
