Physicsts solving Schrödinger's equation for ballpoint pens have found that the resulting wavefunction over time tends to dump almost all of its probability aimplitude into regions where it is confined to a long narrow space between two nonconducting surfaces, thus explaining why such pens have a tendency to slip down the back of the couch.
