NASA is currently buying the world's stock of space hoppers and stockpiling them in Nevada. They have worked out that a massive asteroid will hit there in 10 years time and the space hoppers will bounce the asteroid back in to space. This is, of course, just the backup plan as they hope the bright lights of Vegas will distract the asteroid long enough for us to move the planet quickly out of the way.
