In 1970, the United States Congress passed a law stating that all candidates for the office of President must possess a fully functional spleen. Curiously, no complaints on this issue were ever filed. In 1972, Congress attempted to adopt a similar measure requiring a fully functional brain. This was met with strong opposition from the Republican Party, and eventually abandoned.
