In
1970
, the
United
States
Congress
passed
a
law
stating
that all
candidates
for the
office
of
President
must
possess
a
fully
functional
spleen
.
Curiously
, no
complaints
on this
issue
were
ever
filed
. In
1972
,
Congress
attempted
to adopt a
similar
measure
requiring
a
fully
functional
brain
. This was
met
with
strong
opposition
from the
Republican
Party
, and
eventually
abandoned
.
