Claude Monet's life-long dream of working as a lathe operator in the aerospace industry, was sadly never realised. For most of his life, he had to support his family by doing art instead. He took evening classes at the Ecole de Beaux Lathework for three nights a week, but that's as far as it went. His last words were "pass me that chuck key, mon cheri."
