Although it is not well known, "Opal Fruits" were named after the Opal Kadett, a Spanish car based on the Vauxhall Chevette. This is the reason for them being renamed "StarBurst" as under new European laws every opal fruit would have to be made the size and shape of a four door saloon and be coloured sunset yellow.
