JRR Tolkein was successfully posthumously sued by the artist Damian Hirst on the grounds that his best known works, "Lord of the Rings" and "The Silmarillion" were based almost exactly, on one of his early works, entitled "A Great Steaming Pile Of Horse Excrement".
