The Spice Girls were originally going to be called the Slice Girls, with each named after their favourite cake or biscuit: hence, Ginger Nob, Cherry Tart and Walnut Whip amongst others. The name was changed to the Spice Girls at the last minute following a High Court injunction on behalf of Mr. Kipling.
