Scientists
have been
working
on
steadily
shrinking
the
binary
digits
that
make
up all
computer
communications
. In the
early
days
of
digital
computers
, these
bits
were
nearly
one
centimeter
in
width
, but
now
they are only a
couple
of
microns
across
. This is how
communications
have been
made
faster
and
hard
disks
larger
over the
years
.
