The lie of today, Friday the 29th of March 2024In 1982 octogenarian Bruce Tampwell sued the entire world for copyright infringement, claiming that he had been the first person anywhere to include in his answering-machine message, "please leave a message after the beep". Tampwell argued that he was owed two billion US dollars in unpaid licensing royalties from "just about everyone".
